About SRP
"Stone Ridge Photographers" is
owned by Mark and Dana Gieringer. We are based in Northwest Arkansas, one of the
most beautiful and fastest growing areas in the country.
We enjoy life in the Ozarks.
The name "Stone Ridge" is derived from the rock shelf on the
Ozark mountainside
where we live and work. When we need "urban" renewal to see city lights
other than our own, we're within easy driving distance or non-stop flight
to many major destinations.
BIO
We have our bachelors' and masters' degrees, extensive photography experience,
and also enjoy writing. Mark is a former Air Force pilot, and Dana is a
member of Phi Beta Kappa, and managed a photo studio in Destin, FL while Mark
was stationed at Fort Walton Beach. We cut our teeth on 35mm, proceeded
to medium format portrait cameras, and now are immersed in the boundless potential of digital
photography. We are students of light and angles, human nature, moods and energy.
We also like people!
The photography bug is in the family.
Mark's late grandmother Virginia Smith and her husband Philip were world-class
photographers and contemporaries of Ansel Adams. We have cherished glass
negatives of their images of California, from Yosemite as well as
Carmel-by-the-Sea.
The "bug" has bitten other members of
our family. Mark's father is an enthusiast, and our daughters are also talented
photographers. Shannon is currently revamping
her own website that will
feature her beautiful
macro images. Darby has a terrific eye for the "perfect" moment, and has shot
several events and weddings with us.
OUR STYLE
We love the elegance of gorgeous shots
and the immediacy of candids, so artistic photojournalism best describes
our photographic style.
We use a two-photographer approach that literally allows us to be in two places
(i.e., one with the bride, one with groom) at once. We also coordinate our
efforts during after-ceremony shots of family groups, the wedding party, etc.,
to make the most efficient use of your time.
We approach photography with the same attitude we
have for writing -- that it should appeal to the senses and be intrinsically
satisfying to the people who experience it. We listen to you, and strive to
capture the moments you want the way you want them with our talent and
experienced eyes.
OUR GOALS
We like people, and whether we're shooting an 8-hour wedding or a one-hour photo
session, making beautiful photography for our clients is our ultimate
goal.
We also understand
photographing an event is about more than the photography. It's capturing a
moment in time that may not come again. It's
understanding what our clients want, getting along well with them and their
guests, and becoming part of the event (not a distraction to it).
Being prepared, listening to our
clients, and being personable, approachable, and professional have given us a
great track record and noteworthy portfolio. More importantly, the results make
